Firm Shareholder Jim Ware Helped Celebrate 175 Years of the Federal Court In Galveston, TX

Soon after Texas joined the Union, the first federal court was established for the new state and it was located in Galveston, Texas.  On May 26, 1846, John C. Watrous was appointed as the first federal judge of Texas and his jurisdiction was over the entire state.  From that beginning, federal jurisprudence in Texas has been expanded to include four districts, nineteen district judgeships, six bankruptcy judgeships, sixteen magistrate judgeships and over 200 deputy district clerks.  The Galveston County Bar Association held a reception to celebrate the long-running history of the federal court in Galveston, Texas and attending included the following (Left to Right);
