EMPLOYER ALERT -- OSHA Publishes Employer-Paid PPE Rule |
In a new rule that became effective November 15, 2007, OSHA now requires that all personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided at no cost to all employees. The final rule contains a few exceptions for ordinary steel-toed footwear, prescription safety eyewear, logging boots, and ordinary clothing and weather-related gear. The rule gives employers six months to become compliant with the new rule before it will be enforced by the Department of Labor. The full text of the new rule can be found here:
