Employer Alert — OSHA Publishes Employer-Paid PPE Rule

12.04.2007

In a new rule that became effective November 15, 2007, OSHA now requires that all personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided at no cost to all employees. The final rule contains a few exceptions for ordinary steel-toed footwear, prescription safety eyewear, logging boots, and ordinary clothing and weather-related gear. The rule gives employers six months to become compliant with the new rule before it will be enforced by the Department of Labor.
